APAI Scholarship 2010 In Australia
APAI Scholarship Is For Doctoral Students By University Of Warwick At Australia In 2010
Project Description:
Academics in 3 faculties at UTS were successful in their application for an Australian Research Council Linkage research project. The industry partner is the HealthOne program in the NSW Department of Health. HealthOne is an integrated primary and community health initiative that brings together GPs, community health and other health professionals in multidisciplinary teams. It is a 3 year collaborative project that will research the remaking of health service and professional practices in two HealthOne sites. The researchers will investigate and theorise the place of learning and technologies in these new practices. Outcomes will benefit the design and delivery of primary health care initiatives within the environment of the HealthOne program and in other settings where similar major changes in professional practice are occurring. The study is framed by understandings of the close relationship of work, learning and change, together with a commitment to participative research methods. It uses an approach that accounts for the relationship between humans and their environment within professional practices. The research team is multidisciplinary and international and brings a wide range of expertise and experience in clinical practice, health service management, health policy, medical education, workplace and professional learning, information technology, and human/technology interaction Read more

PhD Studentship For UK Candidates 2010 – UK
PhD Studentship, Multi-Service Networking Techniques For Rural Satellite Internet Access For UK Students 2010 In UK
Description:
A fully-funded PhD studentship is available from the dot.rural research hub at the University of Aberdeen. The research hub has recently received £11.8M over 5 years from RCUK, as a part of the Digital Economy Programme. This PhD studentship is in Internet Engineering, with a focus on technology to deliver next generation internet services to rural communities using advanced satellite systems. Providing high-speed Internet services to the “final third” of the UK population is recognised as an important technological and financial challenge. Poor broadband service is one of the major problems facing rural communities, inhibiting engagement of unserved communities in the Digital Economy. The student will develop new algorithms and protocols for radio resource management and networking methods to allow network operators to tailor the service to match the increasingly wide spectrum of user expectations in multi-service networks. New techniques will be explored through advanced network simulation. She/He will work alongside a satellite ISP to evaluate efficiency of the new techniques using traffic models based on collected data. Aberdeen University has a strong track-record in engineering networking standards. It is therefore expected that the research outcomes will contribute to next generation standards, influencing the way in which future broadband access services are designed, delivered and operated. The successful candidate will have a first or upper second class degree in Electronic Engineering or Computer Science. Applicants may have completed a Master of Science postgraduate degree/diploma. She/He will be expected to have or to gain advanced skills in simulation and be able to work in a multi-disciplinary team to develop an understanding of technologies relating to the Future Internet.
