In the framework of the French ANR project “NEWCASTLE”, a ESRF Post-Doc position is available in the Theory Group (contact: L. Genovese and P. Bruno) to implement a Linear Scaling (O(N)) DFT code based on wavelets .The work will be focused on the exploitation of the features of the already available BigDFT code, which at present scales cubically with the number of atoms. Its features make it suitable to run in massive parallel architectures like modern supercomputers benefiting eventually from GPU acceleration. The localisation properties of wavelets, in conjunction with the flexibility of the formalism, are optimal for the development of a O(N) method. This project aims to improve the already powerful formalism employing wavelets basis sets.The successful candidate will implement this method in the production version of the BigDFT code.One objective of the study will be to examine how the particular set up of the O(N) approach will depend on the specific properties of the systems under investigation. A post-doctoral position, based at the ILL, is available within the scope of the ANR-financed project entitled “Simulation of experiments on protein structure and dynamics”. The aims of this project are two-fold, concerning the production of bio molecular simulations and their analysis, allowing comparison with a range of experimental data. The position at ILL will focus on the analysis of molecular dynamics trajectories based on the nMoldyn code [http://dirac.cnrs-orleans.fr/plone/software/nmoldyn/], which has been developed by the coordinators of the project (Gerald Kneller and Konrad Hinsen, Orleans, France), and as part of a recent ANR project (THALER: ANR-06-CIS6-012-01). Future developments of nMoldyn will increase its functionality to cover the widest possible range of analyses of molecular dynamics simulations, including, in the case of neutron scattering, details of the instrument set-up. In this way, it will be possible to perform virtual neutron scattering experiments on biological macromolecules. The post-doc position is based at an institute where experiments are performed specifically to enhance the link that is being established between experiment and simulation at ILL and elsewhere. Selection Process:
All applications will be screened for short listing. Short listed candidates will be required to attend a personal interview at Mumbai during April 2011. The interview is mandatory and is the basis for final selection.
Post Selection Formalities:
1.Selected scholars will have to submit attested copies of :
(a) The letter confirming admission to the College / University.
(b) Form I-20 ( in case of admission to universities in the US) or copy of letter offering financial support ( in case of universities in other countries).
2. Scholars will be required to attend an Orientation Programme at Mumbai, before the commencement of their course.
3. Scholars will have to sign an MoU with the Foundation and agree to its terms and conditions.
4. Scholars will have to take an insurance policy and assign it to the Foundation.
5. Disbursement of the scholarship will be done in installments based on the fee statement from the College/University to be furnished by the scholar.
