The Fullbright Commission offers The Bristol University Awards to US Citizens for the year 2010/11 at the University of Bristol in UK
Each year, one award is offered to a US citizen for the first year of a postgraduate degree in any field at the University of Bristol. The successful candidate will be selected by the Fulbright Commission and the Institute of International Education (IIE) to receive a grant to be used towards tuition fees and maintenance costs.
Amount of the Award:
Grants are for up to £20,000 (pounds sterling), paid in installments directly to the grantee.
Eligibility Criteria:
Minimum eligibility for this award category:
- US citizen (resident anywhere but the UK)
- Rigor in scholarly enquiry and academic or professional excellence
- Strong reasons for wishing to pursue the proposed project in the UK
- Interest in the peoples and cultures of the UK
- Clear set of objectives for the Fulbright year
- Commitment to the host community through volunteer and extra-curricular activity.
Application Procedure:
- The online application is facilitated by IIE and is used by Fulbright Commissions worldwide. Each Commission sets its own policies and procedures with country-specific information for making an application for a Fulbright Award in their country. You will be able to log in and out of your application account and will not be required to complete the application in one sitting.

Applicants are also encouraged to register to the Fulbright Commission’s website to receive updates from the Commission.
- Successful applicants will be invited for telephone interviews with Fulbright Commission senior staff on the date(s) listed below. Interviews will be held on the indicated date(s) only and may not be rescheduled.
- Proposals must receive endorsement from the University of Bristol, which the Fulbright Commission will seek on behalf of successful applicants.
