The International Foundation for Research & Education (IFRE) is a not-for-profit (Section 25 Company) that has been established with the vision to set up the Ashoka University – India’s first world class university. Over the last two years the team has grown in strength and added numerous academic and non-academic members from across the world to build an incomparable team of accomplished and committed individuals driven by the common motivation to give back to the country.
The Haryana Govt. has allotted 25 acres of land for the university to the IFRE in the upcoming Rajiv Gandhi Education City at Sonepat. The location is at a distance of 1 hour from South Delhi and is on NH-2. IFRE IS also engaging with various reputed universities and schools in USA and Europe to firm up the scope for collaboration in building Ashoka University. A formal collaboration with the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) is already in place. UPenn is one of eight Ivy League universities and is ranked within the top five for many of its undergraduate and post- graduate programs.The Young India Fellowship will be the flagship programme of the Ashoka University and one that best showcases the philosophy and intent in creating a new benchmark in higher education in India. The YIF has been conceptualized under the guidance of eminent academicians and leaders from different domains and has received overwhelming response from people from different walks of life who have enthusiastically agreed to sponsor, mentor and teach at the programme.
Eligibility:
The Post-graduate programme is open to:
* Students who are in the final year of their undergraduate degree.
* Students who have completed their undergraduate degree and have worked for not more than two years.
* Students who are in the final year of the post-graduate programme provided that they enrolled in the programme immediately after completing their undergraduate degree.
* There is no restriction with respect to the area of specialization at the undergraduate level.
* There is no restriction with respect to the medium of instruction (English, Hindi, regional language) that the student has been exposed to, at the school level. However, she/he should be able to converse, read and write in English given that the medium of instruction at the YIF programme is English.
Selection Process:
The selection process will involve three stages:
* Submission of detailed application dossier: The students could choose one of the three following ways to get a copy of the form:
o Download the application from the YIF website.
o Take a hard copy directly from the YIF office
o Apply online by registering yourself on the YIF website.
The application will be reviewed by the selection committee comprising faculty and executive members of the programme spread across different parts of the world. Hence, it is advisable that you apply online.
The application will also need to be supported by one recommendation from someone who knows you either in academic or professional context.
* Telephonic Interview: Candidates who are short-listed based on the application dossier will have to participate in a telephonic interview to have a interview with a member of the selection committee.
* In person interview and test: Applicants who are short-listed based on the telephonic interview will be called to New Delhi for an in person interview with the selection committee. There could be multiple rounds of interviews for a candidate, depending on the need for further assessment. At this stage the applicants will also be administered a general ability test to assess their verbal, written and analytical skills. The final selection will be based on the average score awarded in the application dossier, in-person interviews and the test.
