The American University in Cairo was founded in 1919 by Americans devoted to education and community service in the Middle East. Today, AUC is the region’premier English-language university — an essential contributor to the social, political and cultural life of the Arab world. AUC’s academic program is rooted in liberal education. The university’s rigorous Core Curriculum offers an intensive investigation of fundamental questions in every major discipline.

Eligibility:
*African nationals
*B.A. or B.Sc. degree with grade not less than “Very Good”, an overall GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent.
*TOEFL with TWE score of at least 550 and 4.5, (580 and 5.0 for ECLT & TEFL) or equivalent.
*Applicants for the MBA have to submit a recent score on the GMAT and have at least two years of relevant work experience.
*Applicants for the Economics program, the Economics in International Development program and the Journalism and Mass Communication program are required to obtain an acceptable score on the GRE.
*Applicants for the MA in Arabic Studies must submit evidence of proficiency in literary Arabic.

Duration:
* Fellowships are awarded for two academic years and the intervening summer session.

Award:
The fellowship covers:
* A waiver of tuition fees.
* A monthly stipend of LE 850.
* Student services and activities fee.
* Graduation fees.
* Medical service and health insurance fees.
* A monthly housing allowance of LE 1250.
* In support of their professional training fellows are assigned 18 hours per week of related academic or administrative work.

How To Apply:
* Download the graduate application form.
* No fellowship application form is required to apply to the African Graduate Fellowship.
* Applications should be submitted together with all supporting documents by December 15 for fellowships beginning the following September.
* Selection is made in April.

Minimum Criteria:
AUC requires minimum standards in admitting graduate students. Requirements for a given program may be at a higher level as specified by the department.
Admission Categories:
Categories of admission depend upon the qualifications, status, and study plans of the applicant.
Language Requirements:
Applicants must demonstrate a knowledge of the English adequate for graduate study in that language. For full admission, applicants must attain the required score on either the TOEFL or iBT with TWE examination.
