Peter Freyberg Memorial Fund For Curriculum Research In Education Scholarships Offered By Waikato University 2010 In New Zealand

This Scholarship was established in 1985 with donations from friends and colleagues of the late Emeritus Professor Peter Freyberg. It is awarded in the form of a grant to the applicant, enrolled in a thesis towards Part 2 of the Doctor of Education (EdD), who best meets the donor’s wish to “stimulate research incurriculum”.Regulation:
1. The Scholarship will be known as the Peter Freyberg Memorial Fund for Curriculum Research in Education Scholarship.
2. To be eligible for the award, the candidate must have completed Part 1 of the EdD, and be enrolled full- or part-time for Part 2 of the EdD in the School of Education at the University of Waikato in the year of tenure of the Scholarship.
3. Candidates are required to be qualified teachers, currently registered with the New Zealand Teachers Council for teaching in New Zealand.
4. Candidates for the Scholarship must be citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand.
5. The selection of a scholar will be made by a Selection Panel chaired by the Director Centre for Postgraduate Studies, in the School of Education, the Chairperson of the Scholarships Committee or nominee, and the School of Education representative on the Scholarships Committee or nominee.
6. Selection will be made on the basis of the academic achievement of the applicants, and their research topics. Preference will be given to applicants conducting research related to curriculum development and teacher effectiveness.
7. Applicants must provide a one-page outline of their (proposed) research intentions.
8. The tenure of the award is one year.
9. The Scholarship has a value of up to $3,000.
10. The Scholarship may be held in conjunction with any other scholarship or award.
11. Applications should be made on the application form available from the Scholarships Office or the University’s website, or the School of Education Graduate Studies Office.
12. All candidates will be advised in writing of the result of their application.

I understand that if I am offered a Peter Freyberg Memorial Fund for Curriculum Research in Education Scholarship, and accept it, I will only by eligible to be formally awarded the Scholarship if I meet the following criteria: ? Anticipated or provisional grades used in calculating my eligibility are confirmed by the final grades awarded I am enrolled in Part 2 of the EdD in the School of Education at the University of Waikato in the year of tenure.
I also understand that: The Scholarships Committee may terminate my Scholarship at any time if it is not satisfied that I am following the required programme or am otherwise complying with the conditions governing the Scholarship. I shall have the right to appeal to the Academic Board against any decision to terminate the award.
