Research Scholarships for Young Indian Researchers and Recent Post Doctoral Indian Scholars for the year 2010/11 by DAAD in Germany
The purpose of this Research Scholarship is to undertake a research project at one of the German Universities or Research Institutions without any degree awarded
Eligibility:
- A 1st class Master’s Degree
- There should not be a gap of more than 6 years between the award of last degree (M.A., M.Sc., M.Phil., etc.) and 4 years since award of the Ph.D. and the application deadline (1st October)
- Candidates must have a recent dated acceptance letter confirming academic supervision from a German Professor on the university’s letterhead with a clear reference to the candidate’s research project
- A detailed research proposal including a precise work schedule are the most important selection criterion besides previous academic achievements
- German language skills are not mandatory
- In general, candidates should be residing in India at the time of application. Candidates, who have been in Germany for more than one year at the time of application, are not eligible to apply
- Preference will be given to candidates who are permanently employed and whose employers undertake to re-employ them on return.
How to apply:
All the following documents must be presented by the applicant and should be arranged in the following manner:
- 2 application forms with a passport-size photograph attached to each form. Please ensure that you have signed both forms before sending them to us.
- 2 typed copies of full curriculum-vitae (bio-data)
- 2 copies of the confirmation from a German professor stating that she / he is willing to guide the research project (if candidate has more than one confirmed placement, preference should be indicated – 1st priority, 2nd priority, etc.)
- 2 typed copies of detailed description and precise work schedule for the topic of the proposed research project
- 2 references from senior academics from the applicant’s field of study/research on the proforma available on our website. The referee’s title and academic status should be clearly indicated in this (with official rubber-stamp). These should be Confidential (in sealed envelopes) and should be recent-dated
- 2 typed copies of list of academic publications, if any; 1 set of available reprints, if any
- 2 copies of all chronologically arranged academic certificates and mark-sheets (all copies must be attested; attested English translation, if the originals are in Hindi; Attestation can be done by a gazetted Government officer).
