If you qualify, compete with others like yourself, and are selected, the Dale Schroeder Memorial Scholarship will allow you to attend the Iowa State University, the University of Iowa, or the University of Northern Iowa for your undergraduate experience. The worries and challenges you and your family face during that time will not include finding the money necessary to afford the education you deserve.
Some would call Dale’s dream naïve. There is more than enough cynicism, and certainly more than enough negativity. Though Dale had plenty of reason to see things in a negative light, he never did. Dale’s gift was to keep someone’s dream alive too. When he passed on in 2005, he made sure that every year at least a few rural Iowa youths would have the opportunity he never had.Everyone has heard myths and legends of the pauper who left millions—but this one is true.
