Cardiff University Announce Undergraduate International Scholarships For LLB Students Enrolled On Undergraduate Programes At UK In 2011

Scholarship Description:
There are currently around 400 international students enrolled on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including the Bar Vocational Course and Legal Practice Course, within the School. Cardiff Law School offers two types of scholarship to international students (excluding students from the European Union): first, a £1,000 Entrance Bursary to those who achieve excellence at A-level or the equivalent; and second, Merit Scholarships to those who achieve outstanding academic performance whilst studying on the LLB programme at Cardiff. Terms and conditions for the awards are detailed below.

Eligibility:

A £1,000 Entrance Bursary will be awarded to all students (EU not included) who enrol in the first year of the M100 LLB programme as full fee-paying students of international fee status, having achieved AAA at A-level or the local equivalent. Students whose fees are paid by a sponsor are not eligible for this bursary. The Merit Scholarships are available to first and second year undergraduate students who are enrolled on the M100 LLB programme as full fee-paying students of international fee status. Students whose fees are paid by a sponsor are not eligible for a scholarship.

Terms And Conditions:
   1. Cardiff Law School offers an ‘Entrance Bursary’ of £1,000 to all full-fee paying students of international fee status (EU not included) who enrol in the first year of the M100 LLB programme with AAA at A-level (excluding General Studies) or local equivalent.
   2. Agreed equivalent grades are 37 points for International Baccalaureate, including 7, 6, 6 at higher level. Standards for other qualifications will be judged by the admissions tutor. The University’s decision on whether a qualification is equivalent to AAA at A-level is final.
   3. Full-fee paying first and second year international students who achieve academic excellence in their end of year assessments will be eligible for a merit scholarship of £1,000, £3,000 or £5,000.
   4. For the purposes of these scholarships, ‘Academic excellence’ is defined as achieving a 60-64% average (£1,000 scholarship), 65-69% average (£3,000 scholarship), 70% or more average (£5,000 scholarship).
   5. The maximum scholarship payable for undergraduates is £10,000 over two years. The scholarship results in a reduction of fees in the following academic year of study.
   6. Students who are wholly state-funded or in receipt of other scholarships or funds which wholly or partly cover their tuition fees are not eligible for any of these awards.
   7. Entrance bursaries and scholarships are subject to the student satisfying the examiners at the end of the academic year and proceeding to the next level of study.
   8. There is no special application process for the awards. All eligible students will automatically be considered for an award.
   9. Conditions are subject to change without notice. Awards are made to candidates who meet the terms and conditions current at the time of application.
