Scholarship Description:
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship honors excellence by supporting outstanding community college students with financial need to transfer to and complete their bachelor’s degrees at the nation’s top four-year colleges and universities.The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship makes it possible for the nation’s top community college students to complete their bachelor’s degrees by transferring to a four-year college or university. The Foundation provides up to $30,000 per year to each of approximately 50 deserving students selected annually, making it the largest private scholarship for two-year and community college transfer students in the country.

Selection Criteria:
A review panel of distinguished university faculty and admissions professionals judge the nominees using criteria including academic achievement and critical thinking ability, financial need, will to succeed, and breadth of interest and activities.Through our annual Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program, we provide scholarships worth up to $30,000 per year to community college students & recent alumni to help them earn a four-year degree.

January 19, 2011 (closes at 11:59 p.m. Central Time)  – online application, letters of recommendation, and uploaded supporting documents
January 26, 2011 (closes at 11:59 p.m. Central Time) – faculty representative nomination

Am I Eligible:
Please review the Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program minimum eligibility requirements found on the Selection & Eligibility page.Please Note: Students may not apply directly to the Foundation for this scholarship.  All applicants for the Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program must be nominated by the Foundation’s Faculty Representative at their two-year institutions.

Requirements:
    * Be a current student at an accredited US community college or two-year institution with sophomore status by December 31, 2010, or a recent graduate (since spring 2006).
    * Plan to enroll full-time in a baccalaureate program at an accredited college or university in fall 2011.
    * Have a cumulative undergraduate grade-point average of 3.50 or better on a scale of 4.0 (or the equivalent).
    * Be nominated by his or her two-year institution.
    * Have significant unmet financial need.
    * Have not previously been nominated for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship.
